RECREATION DANCE VS. COMPETITIVE DANCE

The difference between recreational and competitive dance is the depth of dance technique and the rate at which they learn it. Recreational dance is an amazing way to start a love for dance. Recreational dance focuses on basic technique and simpler elements of dance. The main stress in class is to explore creativity, have fun, and to improve physical activity in a structured environment. Competitive dance focuses on teaching higher level technique and provides opportunities for your child to grow and develop as a dancer at an accelerated rate. The class has fun and builds a love for dance, but also teaches the students discipline, hard work and higher physical activity in a very structured class.

2026 Audition Information

Attending auditions and the parent meeting are mandatory for company placement. Please read thoroughly through the following times and information.

**We will email your placement before June 1st and Company registration will be open for Summer the same day!

Before Auditions

Attend the Parent Meeting on May 6th
- Current company dancers - 7:00pm
- New dancers - 8:00pm
Attend optional prep workshops
Create or Login to your online with Dance Studio Pro (DSP)
Pre-register for auditions in your online account
Pay your audition fee in your online account. * additional fee for Hip Hop Co.
Read and sign the Company Contract

What to Bring to Dance Team Auditions

Post-dated check for company deposit ($600, post-date to 6/1/2026)
Wear black dance clothes
- Jazz/Ballet: form fitting dance clothes, dance shoes of choice. NO SOCKS.
- Hip Hop: baggy clothes & sneakers
Water bottle (no snacks)
Hair up and out of face
Positive attitude!
